Designs & Materials:
The Beads and Chains:
Together with my hand wrapped bead-charms and nuggets that are used in all my unique and “one off”
designs, are carefully selected for their appearance, colour and shape from a variety of sources. They are mainly
Indian, Czech and/or Chinese glass beads - some are acrylic. Whether they be clear, frosted, faceted, lustre, lamp work, millefiori, silver foil, clear quartz nuggets or Mother of Pearl nuggets, they are all thoughtfully attached to 925 sterling silver chains. Items that are not sterling, or have not been made using sterling silver chains will be clearly indicated in the item description under the respective image(s).
Kazuri Beads:
The ~KAZURI~ ceramic beads that you see on the pages of my website, have all been handmade by a co-operative of women in Nairobi - most of them single mothers or abused ladies from broken marriages.
The workshop was founded in 1975 by a woman named Lady Susan Wood together with 2 African women. She soon discovered that there were many others in villages around Nairobi who were in great need of employment. This is still the philosophy today - and there are many African ladies working there making wonderful KAZURI items. KAZURI in Swahili means "small and beautiful" and they are just that!
I carefully selected my beads for their colours, shape and size when I was in Kenya in March 2007. This was a major task as there were literally thousands of beads to chose from! (and I really do mean thousands!) It goes without saying that I was like a kid in a sweetshop!
I was so impressed with all the lovely ~KAZURI~ ladies, that I will donate a percentage from each sale of one of my own KAZURI ~Jabulani Designs~ to them. I do so hope you will like them as much as I do.... Each piece, as all my designs, are lovingly & sympathetically assembled.
The Charms:
As with my beads, they are scrupulously and painstakingly searched for their individuality, attractiveness and sense
of fun. Some are enamelled, some encrusted with little crystals, most are silver toned and heavy – but all are delightful
and utterly “charming”. They range from hearts, bows and boxes of chocolates to angels & cherubs, from fairies to dragonflies, shoes and handbags, make-up themes and perfume atomisers, wine goblets/bottles to cooking & food items and from office items to little photo frames.
The Feathers:
These are the softest, little Maribou feathers in various colours
Jabulani Designs, tag/charms:
Each individual piece will come complete with a unique Jabulani Designs “Hand made with Love” tag and will be
lovingly placed in its own little organza bag for safe keeping. My gorgeous little personalised tags were made for me by a superb company in China. My dealings with them were second to none, their valuable help, coupled with their excellent service and vast amounts of email communication was totally outstanding! Larry, my friend in China, if you are reading this - thank you again so very much! :O)
Unique Designs:
As with all Jabulani Designs, whether they be for earrings, pins, pendants, necklaces, handbag charms etc., they are all unique and totally individual – not one will ever be the same
About My Unique Designs:
As with all Jabulani Designs – no matter what it is – each item is carefully thought out and sensitively assembled using a variety of glass and or acrylic beads together with a selection of attractive findings. I strive to make each piece as interesting and distinctive as I can. If an item doesn’t look quite right for whatever reason, I take it apart and start all over again – it has to be just so! Not only that, but I want my clients to be 100% happy with their purchases. If I wouldn’t want to wear it myself, I don’t make it! It’s as simple as that…
Each and every Jabulani Design will be totally individual and unique, therefore not one will ever be exactly the same. No doubt you will be able to find nice earrings and other costume jewellery at
Per Una, Accesorize/Monsoon , and other such places. BUT….., as with all these high street stores, all the items for sale will always be the same, and will be distributed in very large quantities, therefore none of them will ever be unique. Neither are they made with such intricate detail, thought, patience and oodles of love….. What would you rather wear?
